PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings to all HVAHA members and friends and to those who are just now discovering us!

Take a look around our website. Discover who we are. Read our history and find out how we came to be. Read our news as it comes up, and check out our photo gallery.

Our goals and ideals are still the same as they were from HVAHA‘s very beginnings. We serve to: provide Arabian horse owners and lovers a refuge of camaraderie and support and a means of communicating, socializing, and participating with one another; offer social and educational opportunities; provide outlets and encouragement for competition; and to promote the Arabian horse.

The A rated All Arabian show that we hold each May at the Eastern States Exposition grounds in West Springfield, MA is extremely rewarding for us and we hope for our exhibitors as well. We continually seek out ways to improve our show and to better serve the needs of our exhibitors. While our May show has been our primary focus, HVAHA is not just our May All Arabian show. We hope to be able to offer all of our members, supporters and friends so much more. We now have our website , and we soon, once again, publish the club newsletter our members had previously enjoyed. We will be exploring new ideas for general membership meetings, guest speakers, clinics, etc. We will also be re-examining some of our old programs that have been too long ignored.

We want to give our members the events and programs that they might have an interest in. The support of our members will help to ensure the success of HVAHA and its programs and activities. Let us know what you would like to see in your club. If you have an interest in any of our activities or programs, join in. Volunteer your time to help out at an event if you can, participate in those events or in the programs that are to come, sponsor a class, send in news for the newsletter, etc. If you have any thoughts or ideas in this regard, we would love to hear from you.

We will be working to bring you so much more. We would like to bring HVAHA back to the future; back to a feeling of family, back to a wide variety of activities, and, most importantly, back to the fun. In doing so, we would welcome and appreciate any constructive comments, suggestions, and the participation of the rest of our membership and the friends of HVAHA too. HVAHA should be fun for all of us and we are trying to make it that way, both for ourselves and in order to attract more people into our fold. We should promote a general interest in horses first of all, and then, in particular, to the Arabian horse, and also in HVAHA and what we have to offer. All of our members can help in this regard. We must make sure that HVAHA is the type of club someone would want to join, a club with integrity, compassion, camaraderie, and active participation.

If any of you would like to discuss anything with me, I am always eager to hear your ideas and/or problems.

Sincerely,

Arlene Westerlund, HVAHA President
